Country of Volunteers – Ukrainian Charity Stamp Sheet

“Country of Volunteers” celebrates the millions of ordinary people whose extraordinary efforts have helped Ukraine endure, defend itself, and care for those affected by war.

Released in 2024, this collectible Ukrainian stamp sheet is dedicated to the volunteers who donate their money, time, skills, vehicles, food, medical supplies, and countless hours of work to help soldiers, displaced families, hospitals, animals, and communities across Ukraine.

The sheet contains 6 collectible Ukrainian postage stamps featuring the winning design by Ukrainian artist Anastasiia Bondarets.

The Story Behind the Stamp Sheet

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, volunteering in Ukraine has become much more than occasional charity.

For many Ukrainians, it has become part of everyday life.

A small business may donate part of its income to buy a drone.

A family may collect clothing and supplies for displaced people.

Someone living abroad may organize a fundraiser for an ambulance.

Volunteers drive vehicles to military units, deliver medicine to frontline communities, evacuate civilians and animals, help rebuild damaged homes, organize food deliveries, supply hospitals, weave camouflage nets, and raise money for equipment urgently needed at the front.

Much of this work is carried out by ordinary people who simply saw a need and decided to help.

That is the idea behind “Country of Volunteers.”

It recognizes that Ukraine’s resistance has never depended only on the people serving in uniform. Behind them stands a vast network of civilians who continue to work, donate, organize, transport, repair, cook, fundraise, and care for others.

Chosen by Ukrainians

The design for the issue was not selected behind closed doors.

Seven finalists were presented for a public vote, allowing Ukrainians themselves to choose the artwork they felt best represented the country’s volunteer movement.

The winning design was created by Anastasiia Bondarets, also known for the popular Ukrainian stamp “Good Evening, We Are from Ukraine!”

Artwork by other finalists — Anastasiia Tuka, Sviatoslav Romanchak, and Mariia Suslova — was used for the related envelope, postcard, and presentation materials.

A Charity Stamp With a Purpose

The issue was created with a charitable component.

Each stamp carried an additional 5 UAH charitable value, helping turn the collectible itself into another small example of the volunteer spirit it celebrates.

That makes Country of Volunteers especially meaningful: it honors people who help Ukraine while the original issue was itself designed to contribute to charitable causes.
