The Cross of Military Merit Ukrainian stamp sheet contains 6 collectible postage stamps featuring the prestigious military decoration established by the President of Ukraine on May 5, 2022.
The award recognizes members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations for extraordinary personal courage, heroic actions during combat missions, and exceptional success in commanding troops during military operations.
A Ukrainian Military Award with Historic Roots
The modern Cross of Military Merit draws inspiration from the historic Cross of Military Merit of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the Ukrainian Supreme Liberation Council (UGVR), originally designed by renowned Ukrainian artist Nil Khasevych.
The contemporary decoration was designed by Oleksandr Lezhnev. Made of silver with gilded elements, it takes the form of an equilateral cross with the Badge of the Princely State of Volodymyr the Great at its center.
