Russian Warship… DONE! Limited Stamp Booklet – Ukraine 2022

One of the most iconic collectibles of modern Ukraine, the “Russian Warship… DONE!” (Русскій воєнний корабль… ВСЬО!) stamp booklet captures an extraordinary moment when a Ukrainian postage stamp seemed to predict history.

Created by Ukrposhta and featuring artwork by Borys Groh, this official 2022 philatelic booklet continues the story of the world-famous “Russian Warship, Go…!” stamp inspired by the defiant response of the Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island to the Russian cruiser Moskva. 

Only 5,000 copies of this presentation booklet were produced, making it a much more limited collectible than the individual stamp issues.

The Story Behind the Stamps

On April 12, 2022, Ukrposhta released its first Russian Warship, Go…! postage stamps. The design depicted a Ukrainian soldier defiantly facing a Russian warship — a reference to the now-famous response of the defenders of Snake Island when ordered to surrender.

Then history added an extraordinary second chapter.

On April 13, the Russian Black Sea Fleet flagship Moskva, the ship associated with the Snake Island confrontation and depicted in the stamp artwork, was struck by Ukrainian forces. It sank on April 14, 2022. 

Ukrposhta responded by creating the sequel: “Russian Warship… DONE!”, released on May 23, 2022. The new design shows the Ukrainian soldier still standing — but the Russian warship has disappeared beneath the sea. 

The coupons beside the stamps reproduce the image from the original Russian Warship, Go…! issue, allowing the two designs to tell the story almost like a before-and-after sequence: first defiance, then the sinking of the Moskva. 

Two Historic Stamp Sheets in One Booklet

The booklet contains both versions of the 2022 issue:

F – “Death to the Enemies!”
Originally created for domestic Ukrainian postage. The F issue had a print run of 3 million stamps. 

W – “Glory to the Nation!”
Created for international postage, with an original print run of 2 million stamps. 

While millions of individual stamps were printed, the complete official Ukrposhta booklet was limited to just 5,000 copies. 

A Symbol of Ukrainian Defiance

Few modern postage stamps have become cultural symbols as quickly as the Russian Warship series.

What began as an image commemorating the courage of Snake Island’s defenders became internationally recognized as a symbol of Ukrainian resistance, humor, determination, and refusal to surrender. The original stamp attracted international media attention, appeared in major museum collections, and helped Ukrposhta win the World Post & Parcel Awards 2023 in the Philatelic Campaign category.
