“Trident. Honor” is an official 2026 Ukrposhta postage stamp issue dedicated to one of Ukraine’s most powerful national symbols — the Tryzub, or Trident.
Created by Ukrainian graphic artist Oleksii Kustovskyi (Kusto), the design presents the Trident in Ukraine’s blue-and-yellow colors combined with a pixel-style military camouflage pattern. Hidden within the lower part of the emblem is a meaningful detail: a hand placed over the heart, echoing the gesture used by Ukrainian service members when rendering honors, standing for the National Anthem, receiving awards, or saying farewell to fallen comrades. This symbolism gives the issue its name — “Trident. Honor.”

Story Behind the Stamp
The Tryzub has been a symbol of Ukrainian statehood for centuries and today serves as the country’s official coat of arms.
For this issue, artist Oleksii Kustovskyi gives the historic symbol a contemporary interpretation. The Trident is rendered in blue and yellow with a military camouflage pattern, connecting Ukraine’s ancient national emblem with the people defending the country today.
The hidden hand-over-heart gesture represents honor, service, dignity, and loyalty to Ukraine. Ukrainian service members use this gesture when paying respect, greeting fellow soldiers, standing during the National Anthem, honoring the fallen, and accepting state awards.
The sheet also features lines from Ivan Kotliarevskyi’s Eneida, linking Ukraine’s literary heritage with its modern struggle for freedom and independence. Ukrposhta notes that although these words were written more than two centuries ago, their message remains remarkably relevant today.
Together, the design makes “Trident. Honor” much more than a postage stamp — it is a small piece of contemporary Ukrainian history.
